It's about time for an update on our Ivey girl!
It's hard to believe that it was almost 2 months ago that we boarded a plane to China to go get her. In some ways it seems like she's always been here!
We are settling into a good routine these days. Ivey is adjusting to life here well. She is walking now, has been for about 2 weeks!
And she is BUSY, so busy, always emptying drawers, pulling books off shelves, getting out Tupperware, all like a good one year old should.
She still doesn't sleep great at night, but we are choosing to look at this as good bonding time, as she really isn't awake long, just wants to be held until she falls back to sleep. Maybe we are soft in our old age. ;)

We tried to keep Christmas low-key this year, so we went to Eric's parents for just two days and spent the rest of the break here at home. We went to visit my family this past weekend and Ivey did great in the car both ways! All Christmases were very much enjoyed by all and we are so thankful Ivey is home with us this year! Her first Christmas!
The best news we have to share though, is the results of Ivey's cardiology appt. We went into our China adoption knowing it was a Special Needs adoption and that our child would have some sort of physical special need. We were okay with that. Ivey was born with a VSD (a hole in her heart) that was confirmed by and Echo done in China. I took her to the cardiologist here last week and after a 25 min ultrasound and an EKG (which she was a rock star during! no crying at all! miracles, people.) it was confirmed that the hole is closed and she is one healthy girl! We are praising the Lord for His choice to heal her heart. This is not uncommon in children, but not a given either.
"Give thanks to the LORD for He is good, His love endures forever". He would still be good even if that hole was still there and she needed surgery, but we are so grateful for this outcome.
We know there may be more hard times to come, and we will face them as they come, but for right now, we are thankful that the adjustment and bonding phase is going well! We are still holding her close, not leaving her with anyone or letting anyone hold her for now. We feel we are making good progress in bonding though, and that it is working!
